This is how it all started. I wanted to become a writer, an author, and I was determined to make it my career, but I wasn’t sure where to start.

It all started with an idea. It wasn’t even my idea.

When I got back into writing again, I asked some close friends to send me ideas for short stories to write. Who knew that I would find the idea for my first novel? I certainly wasn’t expecting it!

My best friend, Morgan, sent an idea that was similar to mine for Freak Show, but minus the fantasy aspect and a few other things.

The point is that every book starts with an idea. If you don’t know where to start, it’s okay to ask for help!

You don’t have to take someone else’s idea word for word either. For me, I changed Morgan’s idea significantly to make it my own, but hers was what started the premise of Freak Show, which sparked the idea for the whole Circus of Chaos Universe.

Whether you’re a brainstormer, someone who asked for help, or are a research junkie, ideas are what make the world of writing go round.

If you are passionate about writing and want to make it a career, just remember that every piece of writing starts with an idea.
